Hardik Pandya Returns to India Squad for South Africa T20Is

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the India squad for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa, which begins in the second week of December.

The squad will have a couple of major changes, with all-rounder Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill marking their international comeback from their respective injuries.

Hardik Pandya was out of action after picking up an injury during the Asia Cup campaign this year. On the other hand, Shubman Gill has been subjected to fitness clearance from the BCCI Centre of Excellence, who is currently undergoing rehab in Bengaluru after injuring his neck during the first test against South Africa in Kolkata last month.

On the other hand, Rinku Singh, and Nitish Reddy have been dropped from the squad. Left arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav who missed the five match T20I series against Australia to prepare for South Africa tests, has been also included in the India squad.

The team features several seasoned players Abhishek Sharma, and Tilak Varma, along with Shivam Dube and Axar Patel provide additional power hitting to the squad.

India decided to go with two wicketkeeping options Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma, who could play a finisher role.

Meanwhile, the bowling attack is headlined by Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Harshit Rana and Washington Sundar.

The first match of the T20I series will be played on December 09 at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack while the second match will be played on December 11 at Mullanpur.

The third and fourth match will be played on 14 and 17 at Dharamasala and Lucknow respectively. The final T20I game will be played on December 19 at Ahmedabad.
