Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while addressing the conference of former paramilitary forces at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp headquarters in Haldwani on Wednesday, saluted the brave soldiers of the country and made several major announcements for their welfare. CM said that the soldiers of paramilitary forces are true symbols of bravery, courage and patriotism who have served the country with indomitable courage on every front from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Kutch to Arunachal. These brave sons have made an unforgettable contribution in enhancing the glory of the tricolor and they are the pride of the nation.

Big announcements for paramilitary forces

Chief Minister Dhami made many important announcements regarding the welfare of paramilitary forces in the conference. He said that in future, a lump sum grant amount of Rs 5 lakh will be given to the paramilitary soldier who will be decorated with President Police Medal-Gallantry Bravery Medal. Apart from this, former paramilitary and brave women, who do not own any immovable property, will be given exemption of up to 25 percent in stamp duty on purchasing immovable property once in their lifetime in the state of Uttarakhand.

The CM said that the Uttarakhand State Paramilitary Forces Welfare Council will be activated and an office room in the police headquarters will be allotted for the council. One post each of Deputy Director (Paramilitary) in Sainik Welfare Directorate and Assistant District Sainik Welfare Officer (Paramilitary) in District Sainik Welfare Offices of big districts will be sanctioned, in which former paramilitary will be appointed on contract.

Will get help in daughters’ marriage

The Chief Minister announced that those who are children of paramilitary forces will be provided funds for marriage like soldiers. Along with this, instructions have been given to the District Magistrate to select the land for the construction of CGHS building on immediate priority.

Chief Minister Dhami became emotional and said that a soldier is never ‘ex’, he remains a soldier throughout his life. He told that he himself comes from a military family and closely understands the challenges of the soldiers and their families. CM said that the martyrdom of martyrs cannot have any value and it is the responsibility of the state government to ensure that their families do not face any kind of difficulty.

increase in ex-gratia amount

The Chief Minister said that the state government has increased the ex-gratia amount from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh as a mark of respect to the families of paramilitary forces and martyrs. There has also been a significant increase in the reward money and annual grant to the heroes decorated with Ashok Chakra, Kirti Chakra and Shaurya Chakra. The construction work of memorial and martyr gate in the memory of martyrs is going on at a fast pace and this year new monuments have been approved in the memory of 10 brave martyrs. Besides, a system of accommodating a member of the family of the martyrs in a government job has also been implemented.

Emphasis on modernization of army

The Chief Minister said that under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the modernization of the Army has taken place rapidly. Today, India has become self-reliant in defense production and is exporting defense equipment to many countries. ‘Operation Sindoor’ has proved the capability of India’s indigenous weapons globally.

Strict action against illegal settlements

CM said that the government is taking strict steps against illegal settlements and other wrong activities in the hilly areas. More than 10 thousand acres of government land has been freed from encroachment and more than 550 illegal structures have been demolished. Social harmony and internal security have been strengthened in the state by implementing Uniform Civil Code, strict anti-conversion laws, anti-riot laws and land laws.
