Ruturaj Gaikwad: The Indian team came to bat first against South Africa and even though India’s top order opening could not get off to a great start, the middle order batted brilliantly. Rohit and Yashasvi were out early but once again Virat Kohli stood like a rock for the Indian team while Ruturaj Gaikwad came to support him at number 4.

He batted excellently. Gaikwad completed his century in just 77 balls. He played a tremendous innings of 105 runs. As soon as the first inning was over, he (Ruturaj Gaikwad) while talking gave credit for this century.

Ruturaj Gaikwad ignored Gambhir and gave credit to Kohli, saying – “He helped me a lot

Ruturaj Gaikwad had a great partnership with Kohli. Together they made a partnership of 195 runs. Gaikwad came to bat at number 4 for the first time in this series and scored a century in the second innings itself. As soon as the Indian innings ended, he said,

“In the last match I was very disappointed after missing an innings. The wicket was very good and the conditions were favorable for me, I could have easily scored some runs. In the last match I was very disappointed and thankfully today the result was very good. Today it was more suitable for me, I went to bat around the 11th over and I told myself that after the powerplay I have played 25 or 30 balls, I will play like this and bat accordingly, rotate the strike. Will do. The run rate was a bit slow till 15-20 overs, but after that the situation got better and we worked on it.

Further, on batting with Kohli, he said, “(On batting with Kohli) Obviously, it was a dream to bat with him and have a great partnership. He helped me a lot throughout the middle order on how to create gaps, what lengths the bowler can bowl and how you can adjust your technique and play less dot balls and score some runs. So definitely it was very helpful and a good learning for me.”

Ruturaj Gaikwad told whether India will win

He further said, “We had set small targets and we thought that we have to achieve this in 5 overs, we have to achieve this in 5 overs and once we felt that we were comfortable at the crease and then there came a period when the ball was not doing much and was coming very well on the bat and I just said that I will trust my instincts, let’s see what happens next. But after one inning we were thinking of a score of around 350, Thankfully we were able to get that score. It was definitely a good score, but as we were here yesterday, I think there is a lot of dew, hopefully the dew will be less tonight, but it will definitely be really difficult to chase 350-plus.”
