Dry skin: As the cold is increasing, the moisture of the skin is also decreasing. In winter, people often suffer from dry, rough and flaky skin. Although moisturizers and creams provide temporary relief, it is very important to keep the skin moisturized from within. For this, some fruits and vegetables should be included in the diet which will naturally repair the skin and maintain moisture. To keep the skin soft, healthy and glowing in winter, definitely include these things in your diet.
dry skin in winter
The problem of dry skin increases when the natural layer of the skin becomes unable to retain adequate moisture. There could be many internal and external reasons for this. Due to low humidity in cold weather, the skin loses moisture. Apart from this, bathing with hot water for a long time, using hard soap, using excessively hot things weakens the skin layer and makes the skin rough and itchy. Even with increasing age, the natural oil of the skin starts decreasing. The skin also becomes dry due to less water. Due to deficiency of specific nutrients like Vitamin A, C, E and essential fatty acids, the moisture of the skin starts decreasing. If you have any disease like eczema, psoriasis or thyroid imbalance, you may suffer from dry lifeless skin in the long run.
What to eat for rough and dry skin
Vitamin A- Vitamin A is very important for the repair and renewal of skin cells. Skin flaking can be reduced with Vitamin A. This helps in healing dry spots. You should include vegetables like carrots, sweet potatoes, spinach and kale in your diet. It is rich in beta-carotene. Vitamin A also protects the skin from damage caused by UV rays.
Vitamin C- Collagen is a protein that helps in keeping the skin hydrated. Vitamin C also protects against oxidative stress caused by free radicals which cause dryness and aging. For this, eat sour fruits like orange, amla, lemon. Along with this, strawberry, capsicum and broccoli also contain a lot of Vitamin C. By eating these things the skin will remain soft, glowing and well hydrated.
Vitamin E- Vitamin E is known for its powerful moisturizing and skin-healthy properties. It strengthens the skin’s protective layer, prevents water loss and protects the skin from environmental damage. For this, eat things like avocado, almonds, sunflower seeds and broccoli. This will soothe the burning sensation and make the skin soft.
Omega-3 fatty acids- Omega-3 fatty acids are a healthy fat for maintaining skin moisture, which helps in keeping cell membranes soft and flexible. Omega 3 allows nutrients and water into cells and keeps inflammatory substances out. For this, include flax seeds, chia seeds, walnuts and fatty fish in your diet. This will make the skin soft and the burning sensation will also subside.
Foods rich in water- To increase collagen naturally, it is important to keep the skin hydrated. For this, just drinking water is not enough, but you should also eat such things which have high water content. For this, include cucumber, watermelon, lettuce, zucchini and oranges in your daily diet. This will keep the body hydrated and the level of liquid in the body will increase. These substances help in detoxifying the body. Due to which the skin remains hydrated and will become soft.
Antioxidant Rich Food- To keep the skin young, beautiful and soft, eat foods rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants fight free radicals and prevent skin damage. For this, include tomatoes, berries and beetroot in your diet. Antioxidants are found in good quantity in these things.
What to eat to make the skin soft – For this, include things rich in all the essential nutrients in the diet. Eat healthy home-made food, reduce oil and spices, drink at least 2-3 liters of water daily. Include nuts and seeds like almonds, flaxseeds and sunflower seeds for vitamin E and omega-3s. Try to reduce caffeine and alcohol intake and get plenty of sleep.
