Delhi AQI today 3 December 2025: Hopes of relief from pollution in Delhi-NCR once again seem to be fading. The little relief that was felt on Monday has completely vanished by Tuesday and Wednesday (today). A thick blanket of smog was again seen in Delhi this morning. The day started with burning sensation in the eyes and difficulty in breathing. The latest figures have increased everyone’s concern. On Tuesday, the Air Quality Index (AQI) jumped to 390, which was around 304 a day earlier. The amount of PM 2.5 particles in the air is so high that the situation is becoming dangerous again. 19 areas of the city are in ‘Red Zone’ (severe conditions). If you live in Delhi, then be careful. Out of 40 monitoring stations in Delhi, 19 places have recorded AQI beyond 400. Chandni Chowk: The situation is the scariest here, AQI has reached 470. Other areas: Breathing in Nehru Nagar (443), Vivek Vihar (437), Wazirpur (429), and Okhla Phase-2 (427) is no less than a punishment. Why suddenly? Increased pollution? Two major reasons are believed to be behind the air becoming so poisonous – vehicle smoke and the wedding season. According to statistics (DSS), the share of vehicles in pollution is about 18%. But the real problem has arisen due to ‘other reasons’, including firecrackers and diesel generators being used at weddings. It is feared that the share of firecrackers and other smoke in pollution may go up to 43% in the next three days, due to which the situation may worsen. An important hearing will be held in the High Court today. Seeing the health of the people deteriorating, the matter has reached the court. A petition is to be heard today in Delhi High Court, in which strict action has been demanded to be taken immediately. It has been said in the petition that children and the elderly are suffering the most, hence the government should immediately take some scientific measures along with a long-term plan. The cold also showed its anger, the fear of cold wave on Friday is not only pollution, cold has also started showing its colors. A big drop in temperature was recorded on Tuesday, due to which shivering was felt even during the day. The Meteorological Department (IMD) says that today the day temperature will be between 23-25 degrees and night temperature will be between 7-9 degrees. Warning: There will be real cold between 4th and 6th December. There are chances of a cold wave till Friday, due to which the night temperature may drop to 5 degrees. The advice is to avoid morning and evening walks, wear a mask and be prepared with warm clothes, because the coming few days are going to be challenging for the people of Delhi.
