New Delhi: Rohit Sharma was visibly upset as he halted Prasidh Krishna at his mark summoned Harshit Rana and delivered an intense on-field lecture to both young pacers on how to prevent the South African batters from scoring easy boundaries during the second ODI at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Wednesday. The incident took place in the 37th over of South Africas chase. After conceding a boundary Prasidh Krishna bowled a dot ball to Matthew Breetzke. Corbin Bosch contributed with a solid cameo towards the end as South Africa successfully completed their highest-ever chase on foreign soil to level the series. Earlier India posted a massive total of 358 for five thanks to Virat Kohlis back-to-back hundred Ruturaj Gaikwads maiden ODI century (105) and a quickfire 66* from skipper KL Rahul. Kohli scored 102 off 93 balls which included seven boundaries and two towering sixes while Gaikwad smashed 105 off 83 balls including 12 fours and two sixes. Their 195-run partnership for the third wicket set a new record for India against South Africa in ODIs and laid a solid foundation for the team’s big total. Rahuls unbeaten 66 off 43 balls included six fours and two sixes it also marked his second consecutive fifty even as the team continued to shuffle their batting order with the stand-in skipper coming in at No. 5 ahead of Washington Sundar who once again struggled.
