Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, which is called the ‘city of locks’, has got a new color today. Now Shikara will be held in Badi Talab, the biggest attraction of this city. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav today launched 20 modern Shikara boat services, designed on the lines of the famous Dal Lake of Kashmir, at the Upper Lake Boat Club. With this unique initiative, the Big Pond of Bhopal will now remind the tourists of Kashmiri Shikara and the water tourism of the state will emerge strongly on the national and international map.

Special arrangements for bird watching have also been made for the tourists during the Shikara ride. For this, binoculars will be available in the boats. Besides, there will also be facility for the passengers to buy and taste handicraft products, organic vegetables-fruits and local dishes from other localities. This is also expected to encourage local artists and producers. Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan, Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, BJP State President Hemant Khandelwal, Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar and many public representatives were present in this inauguration program.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Wednesday launched 20 new ‘Shikara Services’ prepared by Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation at Upper Lake Boat Club in Bhopal. Developed on the lines of Dal Lake of Kashmir, these shikaras have been started in the capital for the first time on such a large scale. This service will give the tourists a unique experience of premium, calm and closeness to nature. On this impact, the CM said, “In the best lake of our state, now not only hunting will be conducted on the lines of Dal Lake, but like Kashmir, now indigenous goods and organic goods will also be sold here through vegetables, clothes, Mrignayani. With many such gifts, it will become a new center of tourism.”

Eco Friendly Shikara Service

All these ‘Shikaras’ are environment friendly. Giving priority to environmental protection, all Shikara boats are constructed from ‘Fiber Reinforced Polyurethane’ which is a non-reactive and pollution-free material. According to officials, this material does not have any chemical effect in contact with water. The Tourism Corporation has prepared these modern hunts with state-of-the-art technology, making them not only more safe and durable but also aesthetically attractive. After motorboats were removed from the Big Pond, Shikara service has now been started with the aim of promoting eco-friendly water tourism and it is expected that this will provide a new and beautiful experience to the tourists.
