A case of mistreatment of a Jain monk has come to light in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. In Gopinathpur Dokra, under the Saraiya police station area, a miscreant not only mistreated Digambara Jain monk Upasparjayi Shramana Shri Vishalyasagar Ji Muni Maharaj, but also attempted to assault him. He also threatened him for not wearing proper clothing. This incident has angered the Jain community.

On Tuesday morning, the Jain monk was passing through the Dokra area during his pilgrimage. Suddenly, a young man on a bike arrived and began behaving rudely with the monk. He shouted at the monk and threatened him, "Please wear your clothes or my companions will make you wear clothes and shoot you."

This behavior terrified the Jain monk and the devotees accompanying him. The monk, however, refused to proceed further, and sat silently in a meditative posture on the side of NH-722. Seeing this, his followers became angry and immediately reported the incident to the police.

Police swung into action as soon as they received information

Upon receiving information about the incident, Inspector Nadia Naz arrived at the scene with a police team, directed by Saraiya Police Station Officer Subhash Mukhiya. However, the accused on the bike had fled before the police arrived.

The police formed a security cordon and escorted the Jain monk safely to the border of the Saraiya police station area. The station chief explained that the mischievous youth had asked the monk to put on his clothes, after which he stopped there. Police arrived immediately after receiving information, but the accused had already fled the scene.

Community members have demanded that police officials provide adequate security to Muni Shri at every destination during his stay in Bihar to prevent such incidents from occurring again. Station House Officer Subhash Mukhiya stated that no written complaint has been received in this matter. However, police are searching for the accused and patrolling has been increased in the area.
