Bharat Taxi: Whenever people venture out, they rely more on app-based cabs like Ola and Uber for comfortable travel than buses or the metro. Cabs not only offer comfort but also save time and have a simple booking process. Now, in addition to Ola and Uber, a new player has entered the market. This new cooperative taxi service, called Bharat Taxi, has launched in pilot mode in Delhi.

Its operation is significantly different from Ola and Uber. This model is designed to benefit both drivers and passengers. Over 51,000 drivers have joined the initial registration process, and the service is scheduled to be rolled out to several cities in the coming months. Let us tell you in which cities of the country the service will be launched and how much cheaper its fare will be than Ola and Uber.

In which cities will Bharat Taxi operate?

Bharat Taxi is operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited, which was registered under the Multi-State Cooperative Society in 2025. Major cooperative organizations like Amul, IFFCO, NAFED, Kribhco, NDDB, NCDC, and NABARD are its backbone. Driver representatives have also been included on the board. The service has currently launched in Delhi, and driver registration is ongoing in Gujarat.

The service will launch in Rajkot, Mumbai, and Pune from December 2025 to March 2026. Lucknow, Bhopal, and Jaipur will then be added between April and December 2026. The service will then expand to 20 cities in 2027–28 and to district headquarters across the country during 2028–30. The target is to recruit 100,000 drivers.

How much cheaper will the fare be compared to Ola and Uber?

People are wondering how much cheaper the fare will be compared to Ola and Uber regarding Bharat Taxi. The fare hasn't been finalized yet. However, it's estimated that it will be lower than both Ola and Uber, as any driver who joins Bharat Taxi will receive 100% of the money.

Companies like Ola and Uber charge drivers a commission of 20% to 30%. However, this won't be the case with Bharat Taxi. However, drivers will have to pay a membership fee. The app is also going to be integrated with the Delhi Metro, allowing bookings for both cabs and the metro on a single app.
