Preparations for admissions for young children in Delhi's private schools have begun for the new academic session. The Directorate of Education has announced detailed rules and dates for parents awaiting admission to Nursery, KG, and Grade 1. The application process will begin on December 4th, with December 27th being the last day.

Strictness on Schools from Form Availability to Fee Limits

The Directorate of Education has directed all recognized private schools to ensure that admission forms are available until the end of the year and that no more than 25 rupees be charged for registration. While each school has the freedom to determine its own point system and eligibility criteria, it is mandatory to upload all these details on the departmental website by November 28th to avoid any ambiguity in the process.

Selection will be based on a 100-point system

Admission will be based solely on a 100-point system. Points will be determined based on factors such as distance, siblings, and alumni. Each school must clearly display this information on its website and notice board. This information will also be made available on the department's portal.

First list in January, second in February

According to the Directorate of Education, the first selection list will be released on January 23, 2026, while the second list will be released on February 9, 2026. The waiting list and students' marks will also be made public. No school will be able to change the established schedule.

Apart from online and offline registration, registration will also be available through QR codes.

This year, many schools are offering the option of applying through QR codes to save parents from long queues. In keeping with the High Court's directives, both online and offline modes have been kept open. The aim is to ensure the entire process is fair and transparent.

Age Limits Clear, Avoid Confusion

Age calculations will be based on March 31, 2026.

Nursery: 3–4 years
KG: 4–5 years
Grade 1: 6–7 years

Parents are urged to double-check their child's age before filling out the form to avoid rejection of their application later.

Videography of the Draw Process in the Presence of Parents Mandatory

Schools must ensure that, if a lottery is required for seats, the entire draw is conducted either through a computer or the traditional chit method, but in the presence of parents. This information must be provided two days in advance via email and on the notice board. Videography of the draw has also been made mandatory, and the slips will be shown to parents before they are placed in the box.
