Lando Norris' fate is in his own hands as he heads to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in prime position for the Formula 1 Drivers' Championship. The McLaren star only needs a podium finish to lift the title for the first time.

Norris first wore papaya as part of the team's Young Driver Programme in 2017 and he made his F1 debut in 2019 at the Australian Grand Prix. The 26-year-old's first race win came last year at the Miami Grand Prix and he hasn't looked back since. This year Norris has ben embroiled in a championship battle with team-mate Oscar Piastri and RedBull's Max Verstappen and he holds all the cards as they head to Yas Marina. Express Sport takes a look at Norris' life away from the wheel including his net worth, problem-causing girlfriend and reason for relocating to Monaco.

What is Lando Norris' net worth?

The British driver's salary gradually increased from his rookie season and in 2024 he put pen to paper on a blockbuster new deal that will keep him with McLaren until 2027. It is estimated to earn him around £16million each year.

Considering this contract and the various endorsements Norris has signed with the likes of Richard Mille, Monster Energy and PlayStation, Celebrity Net Worth estimates his fortune to be around £52m.

Upon signing his new contract last January, Norris said: "It's a great feeling to be staying in papaya. I've grown up with McLaren and feel at home here, the team are like family to me.

"The journey so far has been exciting. We've had ups and downs, but last season showed our desire to get back to competing at the front of the grid."

Who is Lando Norris dating?

Norris was linked with Portuguese actress and model Margarida Corceiro for a while, though the couple has only recently made their relationship official. They appeared together at the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix, reviving a rumoured relationship that had seemingly fizzled out in 2024. Since then they have been spotted together on many occasions and Corceiro has attended multiple race weekends to support her boyfriend. But her appearances trackside have not gone down well with other drivers thanks to the attention she draws from television.

Cameras have panned to drivers' partners in the garage before and during races and this has been criticised by some, including Norris's former team-mate Carlos Sainz. When asked about this, Corceiro told Jornal de Noticias: "I don't call the cameras. If they record me, they record me. If they don't record me, it doesn't matter. Obviously, there are many cameras everywhere, but sometimes I don't realise if I'm being recorded or not."

Sainz criticised such coverage after the Singapore Grand Prix. He told El Partidazo de COPE: "It's becoming a bit of a trend, which must have worked for them at one time, when people found it interesting to see our girlfriends, to see famous people on television, the reactions.

"Last weekend, they didn't show any of the four or five overtakes I did at the end. They missed a lot of things. The other [showing the off-track things] is fine, but don't lose sight of the main thing. For me, they go overboard a little by showing the celebrities and girlfriends."

Why did Lando Norris move away from the UK?

Bristol-born Norris once said he "would not enjoy" living in Monaco but he seemed to change his mind when choosing to move to the semi-enclave at the end of 2021.

His relocation came just before he signed his mammoth contract with his Surrey-based F1 team and he gave an honest response when asked why he was leaving the UK behind.

"I'm moving to Monaco after [the final race in] Abu Dhabi for the reasons you probably expect," he said in 2024. "It's something that obviously a lot of drivers go to do and especially, with how racing is, I think we've seen for other drivers how quickly things can also go downhill.

"Of course I'll understand and there's going to be some [criticism] for sure. People do many things in life for money. This is just another one."
