A Christmas jumper has been designed to bring people together-literally. This festive garment is large enough to fit you and your friends, holding up to six people at once. It's perfect for reuniting with loved ones and keeping everyone warm, cosy, and close during the holiday season.
The jumper features one giant body, six neck holes, and six sleeves for drinking. It was created by Southern Comfort after a poll of 1,000 undergraduates revealed that 59% plan to head to the pub for Christmas reunions. Many students are undeterred by winter weather: 68% are willing to stand outside bars during the colder months, braving an average of five hours in the freezing cold just to catch up with friends.
For 46% of students the cold can't dampen the excitement of being back together, while an adventurous 64% are happy to stay outside the pub even when it's 'baltic'.
A spokesperson for the brand, which is giving away five of the festive garments on social media, said: "The local pub garden is a real hub for a festive reunion, when you all end up huddled together in the cold, celebrating the comfort of being back with your day ones, and that's what inspired The Big Comfort.
"An oversized, brilliantly ridiculous way to bring mates closer over a festive drink when you've been apart for months, to celebrate those home luxuries, and remind everyone to make yourself comfortable."
The poll also revealed what students miss most about home while at university. Top of the list are their mums' cooked dinners, sleeping in their own beds, and reconnecting with friends from home.
Additionally, 34% miss their siblings, even if they're annoying, and 33% experience FOMO about watching TV on the sofa as a family.
For those planning to reunite with friends, 50% are looking forward to reliving shared memories and old in-jokes. In fact, 42% say these gatherings help them feel like their 'old self', according to figures from OnePoll.com.
The study further found that 87% of students confessed to missing their home comforts more than they expected after leaving for university. Homesickness is common, with 19% missing home daily. Many combat this by making video calls (60%) or planning trips back home (39%).
Other comforts students long for include raiding a well-stocked fridge (24%) and enjoying their favourite local takeaway (18%). Nearly a third (30%) enjoy having their laundry done for them, while 26% are happy to have the heating on all day, knowing someone else is footing the bill.
The spokesperson added:"Christmas should be spent with those you can truly be yourself around.
"It's coming home from uni, dropping your bags, and instantly falling back into old comforts and routines - and that usually starts outside the pub."
