Cheetah Mission echoes again in Kuno: CM Dr. Yadav released 3 leopards, said – this is Kohinoor for us

On International Cheetah Day, CM Dr. Mohan Yadav released female cheetah Veera and two cubs in the open forest at Kuno National Park. Now there are 19 leopards in the open forest. Tourism and employment have increased and cheetahs have fully adapted to the Indian environment.

CM Mohan Yadav Release Cheetah: 4th December was a special day for Madhya Pradesh. On International Cheetah Day, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav released the female cheetah 'Veera' and her two 10-month-old cubs from a big enclosure in the open forest at Kuno National Park in Sheopur district. With this, there are now a total of 19 leopards in the open forest of Kuno.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also released the Calendar 2026 and 'Field Manual for Clinical Management of Free-Ranging Cheetahs' of Kuno National Park. Besides, a souvenir shop was also inaugurated in the park. Minister in-charge Rakesh Shukla, CS Anurag Jain and ACS Ashok Varnwal were also present in the program.

CM said – Kohinoor, Sheopur become international center for us leopards

CM Dr. Yadav said that the campaign for the restoration of cheetahs in the Asian continent is continuously progressing. Congratulating the people of the state on International Cheetah Day, he said that today a female cheetah and her two cubs have been released into the forest. He told that at present there are 32 leopards in Madhya Pradesh, out of which 3 are in Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary.

The Chief Minister said that Sheopur has now gained international recognition for its leopards. He also told that third generation cubs are also present in Kuno. Cheeta Mukhi was born in the state itself and the information about her five cubs is very pleasant.

He said that along with the leopards, the citizens here have also adapted to their environment, which reflects the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Along with tigers and leopards, Madhya Pradesh has become a haven for many wild animals.

The Chief Minister said that tourism has increased five times here, due to which many employment opportunities have been created. Apart from this, it is also special that Kuno's cheetah is now seen running till Rajasthan. He said, “Cheetah is like Kohinoor for us.”

It is noteworthy that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, Project Cheetah has also received the 'Innovative Initiatives Award'.

Cheetahs adopted Indian environment, 5 females gave birth to cubs 6 times

Experts say that cheetahs have completely adopted the Indian environment. In the last three years, 5 female cheetahs have given birth to cubs 6 times, which is a big sign of the success of this project. Cheetahs not only felt safe here, but also expanded their family.

Radio-tracking systems are being used to protect the cheetahs and field teams are engaged in constant monitoring.

Tourism increased in Kuno, new opportunities for eco-tourism

The event took place in the Parond Forest area of ​​Kuno National Park, which is a special tourism zone. The presence of the cheetah family here is expected to increase eco-tourism and the interest and participation in cheetahs among the common people is increasing.

Prime Minister Modi had given the gift of Cheetah project in 2022

The Cheetah Project was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday on 17 September 2022 by releasing 8 cheetahs in Kuno. These leopards were brought from Namibia. Presently a total of 32 leopards are present in Kuno and Gandhi Sagar sanctuaries.
