IND vs SA: The thrilling ODI match played between India and South Africa in Raipur was disappointing for the Indian team. Proteas won this match by 4 wickets and leveled the series 1-1. India had to face defeat in this match, and if we look at the main reasons of the match, then big mistakes are clearly visible at important moments which allowed the victory to slip away.
Slowness in batting in the last 10 overs
Indian batsmen made a strong start to the innings, but the run rate slowed down in the last 10 overs (41-50). When the team needed fast runs, the batsmen could not hit big shots. The rhythm achieved by Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad in the middle overs could not be continued till the final overs. If 25-30 more runs had been scored in these overs, the result of the match could have gone in favor of India.
Poor fielding and over-throws
It is said in cricket that take the catch and win the match, but India’s fielding in this match did not live up to the expectations. Some easy catches were taken, which gave life to the South African batsmen. Due to mistakes by the fielders, over-throws took place on some occasions, due to which South Africa got extra runs. Small moments like this make a big difference in the match.
Aiden Markram’s missed catch
The biggest turning point of the match was Aiden Markram’s missed catch. When Markram was batting on just 53 runs, he was caught easily. Taking advantage of this gift of life, Markram not only extended his innings but also strengthened the South African innings and took the team closer to the target. He played an inning of 110 runs and took one end of the run chase to near the target.
