Netflix’s global hit series Stranger Things has achieved a historic milestone with the release of its fifth season. Within just five days of its premiere, the latest season garnered an impressive 59.6 million views, making it the biggest opening of 2025 for any English-language series on the streaming platform.
According to international reports, this performance places Stranger Things Season 5 as the third-largest launch in Netflix’s history, behind only the Korean blockbuster Squid Game Seasons 2 and 3. Compared to the previous season, the viewership has surged by a staggering 171%, highlighting the immense anticipation and excitement among global fans.
The success of Season 5 also marks the first time that all five seasons of Stranger Things appeared simultaneously in Netflix’s global top 10 list. This unprecedented achievement underscores the enduring popularity and cultural impact of the franchise, which has become a staple of global entertainment over the past several years.
Currently, the first four episodes of the season have been released for viewers worldwide. The remaining three episodes are set to premiere on Christmas Day, while the highly awaited season finale is scheduled for New Year’s Eve, adding festive excitement for fans around the globe.
Stranger Things Season 5’s record-breaking opening reflects not only the series’ loyal fanbase but also the massive hype generated in the lead-up to its release.
