Government is making concrete policy regarding security of judges, roadmap presented in High Court, next hearing on January 8

Jabalpur. The state government of Madhya Pradesh is going to make a concrete policy regarding the security of the lower court judges and their families. During the hearing held in Jabalpur High Court on Thursday, in the report presented by the government, it was told that a roadmap is being prepared for this. The government also informed that legal action is being taken by filing FIR against the accused in previous incidents with judges.

Taking the government’s report on record, the division bench of Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and Justice Vinay Saraf has fixed January 8 for the next hearing of the case. The High Court had taken suo motu cognizance of this matter.

What did the government say in the report?

The state government has assured the High Court in its report that the security of judges is being taken seriously. Work has started towards formulating a comprehensive and concrete policy, the roadmap for which is being prepared. Apart from this, in cases where untoward incidents took place with judges, legal procedure is being followed by registering FIRs. Even in the last hearing, the High Court had instructed the police to take seriousness towards the security of the judges.

The matter is to the incident of 2016

This case is to an incident of 2016, after which the High Court took suo motu cognizance and started the hearing. On July 23, 2016, an indecent incident took place with district court judge Rajvardhan Gupta on the national highway in Mandsaur. After investigating this incident, the then Registrar General had presented the report in the High Court. On the basis of this report, the High Court is holding hearings to ensure the safety of judges and their families across the state.

The court has already issued several guidelines in the case, which include building high boundary walls around the court premises, setting up police posts in the premises and strengthening security arrangements in the residential complexes of judges.
