News India Live, Digital Desk: As the first week of December (5 December 2025) passed, winter has started showing its true nature. Till now, what we were enjoying thinking of as ‘pink cold’, has now turned into ‘severe cold’. If you woke up early this morning, you too must have felt that prickle in the air which makes you gnash your teeth. The latest report of the Meteorological Department (IMD Jaipur) shows that the cold graph in Rajasthan is now falling rapidly. Hill station has become a ‘freezer’: the condition of Mount Abu. The worst condition is of our hill station Mount Abu. The view there is as if we are in Switzerland. According to reports, the mercury there is swinging around the freezing point (between 0 to 4 degrees). In the early morning, dew drops are seen frozen into ice on the windshields of vehicles and trees and plants. It is a matter of fun for the tourists going there, but the problems of the local people have increased. Due to fear of cold wave in the plains, not only the mountains, but also the plain districts are shivering. In areas like Sikar, Churu, Jhunjhunu and Pilani, the temperature has reached single digits. Here the “melting” has increased so much at night that lighting bonfires has become a compulsion. Even in the capital Jaipur, cold is showing its effect in the evening. Important thing for farmers. Winter brings trouble not only for humans but also for crops. The Meteorological Department has warned that ‘Frost’ may occur in many areas in the next few days. Mustard, cumin and gram crops can get damaged due to frost. Remedy: To save their crops, farmers can do light irrigation in the fields at night or smoke on the banks so that the temperature is maintained. Why has it become so cold? It has a direct connection with the snowfall in North India (Himalayas). The icy winds (Northerly Winds) coming from there are directly cooling Rajasthan. Caution is the only protection. The temperature will fall further in the next 3-4 days. So: Avoid riding a bike early in the morning and late at night or go out fully dressed. Protect the elderly and children from the cold morning breeze. Include warm-tasting foods like jaggery, millet and sesame in your diet. So, snuggle up in your quilt and enjoy this winter with Gajar Ka Halwa!
