IPL 2026 Auction: The IPL 2026 auction is to be held on December 16. This time, some surprising information is coming out regarding the availability of players. An English player, whose base price is Rs 2 crore, is said to be available for only four matches.
Here we are talking about Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis, whose limited availability has completely changed the strategy of the teams.
Available for only 25% matches!
Josh English, who has a base price of Rs 2 crore, is among the players who were eyeing many franchises. Especially those teams who are looking for a reliable wicketkeeper-batsman. But now this hope seems to be fading. According to a Cricbuzz report, Inglis has informed BCCI that he will be available for only 25% of the matches of IPL 2026. This means that if a team buys him, he will be able to play only four matches in the entire season.
Why was Josh Inglis’ availability limited?
According to reports, Punjab Kings decided to release Josh English just before the last date of retention. This decision was taken by the team’s head coach Ricky Ponting. Actually, English told the coach that the timing of IPL 2026 is clashing with his marriage events, hence he will not be available for the team for the entire season.
Four more players will also miss some matches
Josh English is not the only player. A total of five foreign players have confirmed their availability to some extent. These include Australia’s Ashton Agar (65%), William Sutherland (80%), New Zealand’s fast bowler Adam Milne (95%), and South Africa’s Riley Rousseau. The special thing is that the availability of Rousseau is only 20%, which is even less than English.
