Bhopal. The second and stronger phase of cold is about to begin in Madhya Pradesh. Due to the effect of a new western disturbance becoming active in North India, there will be a big change in the weather of the state from December 6. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature may drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in the next 48 to 72 hours, which will cause severe cold in many areas and cold wave conditions may also occur in some districts.

The morning cold has been continuously increasing in the state for the last three days. On Thursday night itself, the temperature in 9 cities dropped below 10 degrees Celsius, with Pachmarhi being the coldest place at 6.6 degrees Celsius. Now with the activation of the new system, the cold outbreak is likely to increase further.

Why and how will the weather change?

According to meteorologists, a western disturbance is active in North India. Its direct impact will be seen in the form of snowfall and rain in the hilly states. This will have an indirect impact on Madhya Pradesh. Due to this system the direction of the winds will change to north-westerly. These icy winds will bring cold with them, due to which the temperature will drop rapidly across the state. However, there is no possibility of rain in the state from this system.

Cold wave alert in Gwalior-Chambal

The maximum impact of the new seasonal changes can be seen in Gwalior-Chambal division. There is a possibility of dense fog in the morning and increase in chill during the day. The Meteorological Department has warned of cold wave or cold day like situation in Gwalior, Datia, Morena and Sheopur. In these areas the night temperature can go much below normal. Visibility here may be less than 100 meters on the morning of 6-7 December, which will affect traffic.

Weather conditions will be like this in major cities

Bhopal-Indore: The minimum temperature in the capital Bhopal will remain around 11-12 degrees, but it will fall after December 5. Even in Indore, despite light sunshine during the day, the effect of cold will intensify in the evening. Light fog may be seen in both the cities in the morning.

Ujjain-Ratlam: This area is considered quite sensitive to cold wave. The temperature will drop rapidly here at night. The weather will be clear but cold winds will increase shivering.

Jabalpur-Sagar: The effect of cold will increase in these areas also in the next two days. There will be light mist in the morning and sunshine during the day, but the temperature will remain 1-2 degrees below normal.
