A special court in Meerut has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the rape of a nine-year-old disabled girl, along with a fine of ₹55,000. The ruling was made on Friday.
Government advocates Narendra Chauhan and Avkash Jain reported that the special judge, Mohammad Babar Khan, found the accused, Virendra, a resident of Shafiabad Loti village in the Mundali area, guilty under the POCSO Act and for the crime of rape, imposing a sentence of rigorous life imprisonment and a monetary penalty.
According to the lawyers, the case was registered on May 29, 2022, at the Mundali police station, where the complainant alleged that the accused had entered their home and assaulted his daughter.
The complainant further revealed that the victim is mentally challenged, unable to speak, and physically disabled. Following a thorough investigation, the police submitted the charge sheet to the court, which concluded the hearing and delivered the sentence on Friday. Authorities claimed that the effective representation by the prosecution led to the conviction.
