News India Live, Digital Desk: Sometimes this happens with all of us, we plan a trip with great enthusiasm, book cheap flight tickets months in advance, and then suddenly some important work comes up or the plan gets ruined. It is sad to have the plan cancelled, but the bigger fear is that “Now the money for the ticket will be lost!” Often we think that if we cancel a ticket worth Rs 4000, we will barely get Rs 500-1000. Many people do not cancel tickets due to the fear of huge cancellation fees of airlines. But friends, wait! Do you know that if you cancel your ticket correctly and at the right time, you can avoid huge losses? You can even get a full refund in some cases. Today we are going to tell you those 5 easy steps, with the help of which you can cancel your ticket in minutes without any agent and get a refund. Step 1: Forget the agent, go directly to the ‘website’. Often we book tickets through Paytm, MakeMyTrip or any travel agent. We keep hanging on their customer care for refund. Correct method: No matter where you have booked the ticket, go directly to the official website or app of the airline (like IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet etc.) for cancellation. The process there is fastest and no commission is deducted in between. Step 2: Select ‘Manage Booking’ option. On the homepage of the airline’s website, you will see a ‘Manage Booking’ or ‘My Trips’ button. This is the magic door from where you will get your money back. Click on it. Step 3: Enter your PNR number. Now a form will open in front of you. Here you have to enter two things: Your PNR number (which is written on your ticket). Your Email ID or Last Name. As soon as you click ‘Get Itinerary’ or ‘Submit’, your complete ticket details will appear. Step 4: Select ‘Cancel’ button and ‘Refund Type’ (the most important step). Here you will get the option to cancel your ticket. Click on ‘Cancel Flight’. Now pay attention here! Often airlines try to give you the refund in ‘Wallet’ or ‘Credit Shell’, which you can use only to book tickets in future. If you want cash back, then choose the option of ‘Refund to Source’ (ie back to the same bank/card from which the money was deducted). This step is the most important. Step 5: Final Check and Confirmation Before pressing the cancel button, see on the screen how much cancellation charge the airline is deducting and how much you are getting back (Refund Amount). After checking everything, confirm. That’s it! When will the money arrive? Usually, you will receive an email or SMS immediately after the process is completed. If you have chosen ‘Refund to Source’, the money is credited to your bank account within 7 to 10 working days.
