Bollywood star Aamir Khan known for his versatility on screen and introspection off it opened up about his personal life during the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2025. On stage with Sonal Kalra Chief Managing Editor Entertainment & Lifestyle at HT he spoke candidly about maintaining harmony with his ex-wives and the unexpected happiness he found with partner Gauri Spratt. Can exes remain family after separation? Aamir’s approach to divorce is refreshingly mature. Reflecting on his relationships with former wives Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao he said “It shows we are good people. Reena is an amazing person. We fell apart as husband and wife but that doesn’t mean we fell apart as human beings.” Aamir added that despite the separation respect love and familial bonds remain intact “We are family… Reena her parents Kiran and her parents and my parents we are all actually one family.” This heartfelt statement underscores Aamir’s commitment to preserving dignity and compassion a rare stance in an industry often quick to judge broken relationships. Is it possible to believe in love again at 60? Asked if he ever thought he’d find love again Aamir admitted he had given up on that possibility. But life surprised him. He introduced Gauri Spratt as his partner earlier this year on his 60th birthday. He described her as a source of calm and steadiness and spoke with humility about how lucky he feels to have met her. He emphasised that although his earlier marriages didn’t work out they helped him grow as a person and now with Gauri in his life he feels fortunate and hopeful. A life traced: From Reena and Kiran to Gauri Aamir’s first marriage was to Reena Dutta in 1986 with whom he has two children Junaid and Ira. Their marital journey ended in 2002. In 2005 he married director Kiran Rao and the couple welcomed their son Azad Rao Khan in 2011. In 2021 they announced their separation describing it as a transition from marriage to friendship while continuing to co-parent their child. Now in 2025 Aamir’s life chapter includes love with Gauri Spratt a story of healing growth and hopeful new beginnings. In a world quick to sensationalise celebrity relationships Aamir Khan’s composed honesty and renewed faith in love stand out reminding us that life’s second chances can come with dignity and grace.
