Thousands of Indigo flights canceled
Indigo Flight Cancellation: Nowadays, every passenger preparing for air travel has only one fear in their mind, will my flight take off? The airline app on your mobile screen is screaming that the flight is 'on time'. You leave home carefree, reach the airport, fight traffic and stand in long queues at security check. But as soon as we reach the boarding gate, we get the news that the flight which was supposed to be on time, has suddenly been cancelled. This story is not just about one or two passengers, but has become the story of thousands of people across the country in the last few days. India's most trusted airline IndiGo is going through its worst phase these days. In technical language it can be called 'network disruption', but for the common traveler it is no less than mental torture and open robbery.
Happiness ruined by relying on 'on time'
Many painful stories are buried behind the outcry at big airports like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. In Goa, someone missed an important business meeting, while someone was deprived of attending his best friend's wedding. The seriousness of the situation can be gauged from the fact that a family could not immerse the ashes of their father in the Ganga on time. Mothers with small children in their arms were forced to spend the night on the airport floor.
In the last few days, more than 2,000 flights have been canceled and on an average 500 flights are getting delayed every day. But the question is why the airline does not inform the passengers earlier? What is the intention behind calling the airport and canceling the flight?

This is the complete 'mathematics' to avoid refund and compensation
There is a deep economic mathematics hidden behind this chaos, which is important for every traveler to understand. Actually, in IndiGo's system the flights are deliberately shown as 'scheduled' or 'late' till the last moment. The simple reason behind this is to save money.
According to the rules, if airline If it cancels the flight itself and informs the passenger in advance, then he has to return the full amount (100% refund). But if the passenger cancels the ticket himself out of panic or seeing a delay, then the airline deducts the cancellation charge. Indigo is taking advantage of this loophole. They keep the passengers in limbo so that people get upset and cancel the tickets themselves and the company does not have to refund the entire money.
Apart from this, a game of avoiding compensation is also going on. The rule is that if the flight is delayed by 2 to 4 hours, food and drinks will have to be provided. If the night flight is delayed by more than 6 hours or is rescheduled to the next day, then hotel accommodation has to be paid. So the airline first shows a delay of 2 hours, then 4 hours, and finally when the passenger gets tired at the airport, the flight is cancelled.
The system has deteriorated due to management mistakes
Often, flight delays are blamed on weather or technical glitches, but this time the reason is something else. This entire crisis has arisen due to the new 'Flight Duty Time Limit' (FDTL) rules that came into effect from November 1.
New rules were made to reduce the fatigue of pilots and increase air safety, under which it is mandatory to give more rest to pilots. The management of Indigo did not prepare in advance according to these rules. They did not have enough pilots and crew. They already knew this but Indigo management did not make any preparation for it. The result was that as soon as a flight was delayed, it affected the entire network like a domino effect. Due to lack of staff, flights started getting canceled one after the other.

What action did the government take?
The government has come into action after the increasing anger of the passengers and the embarrassment on social media. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has clarified that this mistake is entirely of IndiGo. The government has instructed the airlines to keep a check on fares so that arbitrary money is not charged from those booking tickets under compulsion.
Under pressure, Indigo has implemented 'Plan B'. If your flight gets canceled or rescheduled, you can choose another flight at no extra charge or ask for a full refund. Now the company has promised to refund the full amount on cancellation of tickets for the journey till December 15.
