Dharmendra wished for one more role on screen, urged Anil Sharma to script something powerful: ‘Beta mujhe kuch karna…’

In the glitzy and glamorous world of Bollywood many actors come and go but there are a few rare gems that attain such stardom that remains unmatched. Their charm endures and resonates with audiences across generations. One such example of this is Dharmendra. Known for his timeless charm warmth and impeccable performance his contribution to Indian cinema is massive. After his demise the industry is left with a deep void that can never be replaced. Recently filmmaker Anil Sharma who directed him in multiple films has opened up about his last emotional meeting with the veteran actor revealing how the legend longed to return to the screen one more time even at the brink of ninety. Dharmendra’s Last Conversation: ‘Camera meri mehbooba hai’ In a conversation Anil Sharma shared how Dharmendra personally expressed his desire for a powerful role. He said Dharmendra told him “Yaar Anil beta mere liye ek bahut kamaal ka role likh. Mujhe kuch karna hai abhi. Camera meri mehbooba hai woh mujhe bula rahi hai. Mujhe jaana hai uske paas. Kuch kar abhi. Koi achha role likh.” Anil recalled how Dharmendra wanted to do an impactful role. He added “Write an amazing role for me. I still want to work. The camera is my beloved; it is calling me. I want to be in front of it. Write a good role for me.” Anil revealed that Dharmendra repeated this request three times and he promised he would write something for him. “Dharmendra ji told me this three times. I promised him that I would write a role for him. I didn’t know that he would pass away just a few months later. This was my last meeting with him. I thought: he’s about to turn 90 and look at his zeal. He still loved cinema so much it was never business for him; it was his passion.” His Final Days His Legacy And The World’s Love Dharmendra who passed away on November 24 was in and out of Breach Candy Hospital due to deteriorating health. Rumours of his passing surfaced on November 10 but Hema Malini and Esha Deol dismissed them. He was taken home later but on November 24 the legendary actor took his last breath at his Juhu residence at age 89. Dharmendra is survived by Hema Malini and Prakash Kaur and six children including Sunny Deol Bobby Deol and Esha Deol. Today Dharmendra is no longer in this world but he continues to live on through his impeccable work and the warmth he carried.
