NatWest Bank will have closed 57 branches across the UK by January 2026. Some 57 branches have been listed for closure on its website, with 50 having already ceased operation between September and October this year.

Five closure dates have yet to be confirmed until NatWest is ready to provide an alternative for customers, and one bank in Cromer, Norfolk, is set to shut its doors on January 27, 2026, according to the site. It reflects a wider move across the sector, with banks shifting their operations online and drastically reducing their high street presence. According to NatWest, more than 80% of its customers use digital banking methods.

A statement on its website said: "Banking has changed dramatically in recent years, with an increased demand for mobile and online services, as our customers benefit from a faster and easier way to bank. Closing a branch is a decision we take very seriously.

"We know it can affect those less confident with alternatives we offer. We'll always work hard to guide and support you through the changes and find the best way to serve you from now on."

For customers who may not feel comfortable with online banking, services such as community pop-ups have been offered. These will be available in selected locations for up to twelve weeks after changes to the branch network.

Mobile branches will also visit specific locations for up to five days a week throughout the year, so customers can make deposits, withdraw cash and pay bills. Closure guides can be found on NatWest's website for each of the sites.
