Zomato CEO teases 'Temple,' a mysterious new brain-focused health device

Deepinder Goyal, CEO of Eternal, has teased the launch of a new health-tech device called Temple.

The announcement comes months after he was seen wearing a mysterious gadget on his temple.

The official website for Temple currently features an enigmatic tagline: "The future of health starts where no one's looking. Inside your brain."

Temple's development linked to gravity ageing hypothesis
Hypothesis connection

The development of Temple and its sensor is based on Goyal's Gravity Ageing Hypothesis.

The theory posits that the constant pull of gravity over a lifetime could gradually reduce blood flow to the brain, potentially accelerating aging.

This idea was first introduced by Goyal last month through his new longevity venture Continue Research.

Device details

The small sensor seen on Goyal's temple was an experimental device created to measure cerebral blood flow continuously.

He had been using it internally for over a year as part of Continue Research.

"We needed a gold-standard-anchored proxy of cerebral blood flow in daily life to even start testing the hypothesis," Goyal said in November, explaining that they started making this device as a measurement project, not as a product idea.

Temple's potential as a health-tech company
Future prospects

Goyal hinted that Temple could eventually grow into a small, "cute" company.

The start-up is reportedly looking to raise around ₹415 crore from investors including Steadview Capital and Vy Capital.

Despite the speculation surrounding his wearable device, Goyal has maintained that Temple isn't just a marketing gimmick but an important step in health-tech innovation.
