To get Aadhaar card updated, people had to stand in long queues at Aadhaar centers for hours. But now this picture is changing. Keeping pace with the technological changes, UIDAI has taken a big step for the convenience of the common people. Now many important services to Aadhaar are available at your fingertips, which will not only save your precious time but will also eliminate the hustle and bustle.

Will get relief from long queues

As part of the changes in digital services in recent times, UIDAI has launched its new Aadhaar app, which is available for both Android and iPhone users. This app, which was launched around November 9, 2025, has been downloaded by millions of people so far. The biggest relief is that after the new update on December 2, users can now update the mobile number in their Aadhar card while sitting at home.

Earlier, there was a compulsion to undergo biometric verification and visit the center to change or update the mobile number, but new technology has made it very easy. However, at present only the facility to update mobile number has been started through the app, but soon it is expected that the option to change name, address and email ID will also be available.

What is ‘My Contact Card’?

The most talked about feature in the new update of the app is ‘My Contact Card’. This feature is a new and smart way to share digital identity securely. Often, when we show or scan the Common Aadhaar QR code to someone for our identification, all the personal information like our name, date of birth, complete address and photo is revealed in it. Sometimes we don’t want to share so much information.

This is where ‘My Contact Card’ comes in handy. This feature generates a unique QR code for the user. When it is scanned, only three things are visible, your name, mobile number and email ID. Its direct advantage is that you can give your digital contact details to the other person while maintaining your privacy. Sensitive information like your address or date of birth is not shared in this.

Where will this new digital card be useful?

In today’s era, Aadhaar is mandatory everywhere, from enrolling children in schools to opening bank accounts and booking railway tickets. In such a situation, the needs of digital transactions and identity verification have increased. ‘My Contact Card’ will be extremely helpful in situations where you only need to provide your basic contact information.

For example, you no longer need to give your number and email address in writing or verbally to a vendor, service provider, or during an informal meeting. Simply scan your ‘My Contact Card’ and share the exact information.
