India is soon going to take a big step in the semiconductor production sector. Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has recently announced that the country’s first ‘Made in India’ chipset will be launched in the market this year. This will be an important achievement for India’s technological development. Till now, countries like China, America, Japan and Vietnam dominated the chip production sector, but now India is also going to join this race. According to the minister, the government is working rapidly to strengthen this industry and is moving towards making India a semiconductor hub.
Ashwini Vaishnav also said that the government no longer wants to be limited to chip production only, but in the next phase, the focus will also be on material production, design and equipment production. The development of semiconductor production in India will not only lead to self-reliance in the field of technology but will also give a big boost to the country’s economy.
At the World Economic Forum, the minister had said that the semiconductor program is getting a very positive response from the industry. However, he also acknowledged that advanced chip production is not easy and will require major changes. But considering India’s capabilities, this target will not be difficult to achieve.
He said that the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is continuously increasing and the government is also working rapidly in this field. A concrete strategy is being made to strengthen AI technology in India, so that it can play an important role in the technological progress of the country in future.
According to the Global Vibrancy Ranking 2023, the top 10 AI countries include US, China, UK, India, UAE, France, South Korea, Germany, Japan and Singapore. There is a fierce competition going on between America and China regarding AI. America is currently ahead in terms of research papers, investments and patents. According to Stanford University, the US AI field is more developed and effective than China’s.
Ashwini Vaishna had recently announced that India is developing its own AI model, which will be launched in the next 10 months. India is preparing to compete with America and China in this field. India can develop affordable AI models like DeepSeq, which will allow people to use AI tools at low cost. DRDO believes that it is not necessary to spend billions of dollars to create a very large AI model. China has challenged America by developing DeepSeq at very low cost and making it available for free use. India is also working in this direction, so that AI technology can be made accessible to the common people.
