New Delhi: The Central Government has formed seven dedicated working groups under the Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA) to accelerate the India 6G mission. These groups presented their progress and future plans (roadmap) in the quarterly review meeting held on Tuesday.

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. This meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Scindia. Minister Scindia stressed the need for all seven working groups – covering areas such as technology, spectrum, devices, applications and sustainability – to work in coordination to ensure comprehensive success. “The groups should hold joint review meetings every month to ensure that progress in one group can be leveraged by the other.” Minister Scindia outlined the key focuses of India’s 6G strategy.

He said that spectrum policy will be the centerpiece of the 6G strategy. Emphasis was placed on understanding global trends to formulate a long-term national spectrum policy. India must produce high-end devices (such as mobile devices) and at the same time keep them affordable, as the Indian market has different needs. He encouraged research into standardized device architectures to reduce costs and accelerate production. 6G use cases should not be based solely on global models but should be tailored to Indian needs, born out of Indian innovation.

The main objective of the India 6G Alliance (B6GA) is to promote indigenous design, development and deployment of 6G technology. Minister Scindia reiterated that the purpose of India’s 6G journey is not just to advance the technology, but to create a self-reliant ecosystem that benefits citizens, industry and the world. India’s objective is to shape global standards, not just adopt them. India aims to become a global leader in advanced communications and develop affordable 5G and 6G systems. Wants to become the main supplier of products.
