Gujarat Rajkot: On December 4, a 35-year-old man in a hamlet in Gujarat’s Rajkot district is accused of raping and torturing a seven-year-old girl with an iron rod. For the previous several years, the accused, Ramsingh Tejsingh, a citizen of Alirajpur, Madhya Pradesh, had been employed as a farm laborer in the Rajkot region.

Around 11 a.m., Tejsingh, a father of three, allegedly led the child to a nearby water tank when she was going to the agricultural field with her parents, migrant laborers from Dahod, Gujarat. He reportedly tried to rape her there while gagging her. Police said that after failing, he used a one-foot iron rod to torment her.

While being questioned, the guy admitted to the crime. Around eleven in the morning on December 4, he tried to rape the girl beside a water tank. According to the HT article, the Rajkot SP said, “When he failed, he became angry and attacked the girl with an iron rod.”

Vijaysinh Gurjar, the Rajkot (rural) superintendent of police (SP), said that the police were notified by the hospital.

When the girl’s parents discovered that she was bleeding, they brought her to the hospital. According to the HT report, Ashok Yadav, the inspector general (IG) of Rajkot Range, said that she was taken to the government children’s hospital in Rajkot, where she is still receiving treatment.

On December 8, police filed a First Information Report (FIR) in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in response to a complaint made by the minor’s father.

Ten teams of police were assembled to conduct the investigation, gathering and examining CCTV material from neighboring villages and the surrounding region. A preliminary list of 140 suspects was created, and they were all called in to be questioned in order to confirm their alibis. Later on, the inquiry reduced the list to eleven people.

With the assistance of female police officers, medics, and a child counselor, authorities showed the victim pictures. One individual was recognized by the girl. He was arrested and questioned by police, according to Gurjar.
