A woman tragically died at an Asda supermarket on Wednesday as police rushed to the scene. At around 7.05am, officers were spotted parked on New Market Road.
Three police vehicles were in attendance alongside paramedics following reports of a woman having taken unwell. The 64-year-old was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
There are not believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. Multiple officers were carrying out inquiries both inside and outside the supermarket.
The pavement on approach and the steps leading up to the supermarket were both taped off.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7.05 am on Wednesday, 10 December, we received a report of a woman unwell in the New Market Road area of Edinburgh.
"Emergency services attended, and the 64-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. There are no suspicious circumstances."
Asda's head office told Edinburgh News it was not able to provide any information or comment at this time.
