Greater Noida: Despite having paid hundreds of thousands of rupees for their apartments, residents of the housing society in Sector 22D of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region are struggling with a serious shortage of essential services. Residents are furious about the situation because they believe that the Authority and the Electricity Corporation have failed them.
Low Occupancy Because of Inadequate Facilities
The society’s occupancy rate has been negatively harmed by the absence of basic amenities.
Total Number of Flats: About 7,000 apartments have been built.
There are now just 300 households living there.
Impact: Because of the terrible condition of the amenities, most purchasers are still hesitant to move in even after they have taken ownership.
The Crisis of Electricity
The inhabitants’ main problem is a continuous power outage, which is made worse by a blame game between the Electricity Corporation and YEIDA.
Transformer Breakdown: 21 transformers (400 kVA) are needed to satisfy the demands of civilization. Eight transformers, however, have been malfunctioning for almost a month.
Present Situation: The supply to several apartments is being disrupted by the 13 transformers that are now in operation.
Voltage Problems: Locals claim that the low voltage of the power supply damages appliances and is inconvenient.
Security and Theft: Because of inadequate security, copper strips have been taken from the transformers by thieves, often causing electricity interruptions.
Decay of Infrastructure: Seepage and Lifts
In addition to energy, society’s physical infrastructure is gradually decaying.
The majority of lifts in high-rise buildings are defective. Many residents have to utilize stairs to reach levels as high as the tenth story since elevators often stop in the middle of their route.
Severe Seepage: Water pipes are leaking in many locations. The rooms’ walls are in danger of being ruined because of the extreme seepage.
The Official Game of Blame
Officials from the relevant authorities have made contradictory claims and transferred accountability while the locals suffer.
The Position of the Electricity Corporation According to Ajay Gupta, the Electricity Sub-Divisional Officer (Dankaur), all apartments are receiving electricity and are not experiencing any disruptions. He asserted:
“The Yamuna Authority installed the defective transformers. To further enhance the supply, an electrical substation has been built in Sector 22D and will shortly be turned over.
The Position of the Yamuna Authority The general manager of YEIDA, Rajendra Bhati, minimized the gravity of the circumstance. “We inspected the society and spoke with residents just three days ago, and they did not report any serious problems,” he said. There are a few small problems that will be fixed shortly. The Electricity Corporation is responsible for fixing the electrical issue. A recent disruption-causing line fault has been resolved.
Voices of Residents
Locals are quite irritated with the government’ indifference.
Sector 22D Association President Rakesh Tripathi: “There are several issues facing society. The problem with power is very serious. Yamuna Authority and Electricity Corporation officials are not committed to fixing the issue.
Shashank Srivastava: “It’s difficult to go to the apartments on the higher levels since the elevators in the community are broken. The lifts often stop in the middle of the trip.
Arvind Sharma: “The seepage issue has become worse. The rooms’ walls will deteriorate if the problem is not fixed.”
Kishor Chand Dungriyal: “A long-standing issue with the delivery of energy has become worse in the last month. Living here is becoming harder and harder.
