We can all collectively roll our eyes because, yes, Prince Harry has been in court yet again. In Thursday night's Channel 4 documentary, The Prince vs the Paper: Dispatches, we will see further insight into Harry's case against the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, who Harry accuses of phone hacking and bugging. He's been in a legal minefield for years now, Harry just hasn't stopped, this claim is just the most recent in a long-line of court cases he's attended.
In May, he lost a legal case to have his police protection reinstated when visiting the UK, but after telling the BBC it wasn't safe for him to bring his family back to the UK because of this, the Home Office will now review whether he should receive full police protection on visits to the UK, despite not being a working member of the royal family. Not only that, he and Meghan seem to constantly be issuing barbed statements following stories regarding Meghan's father Thomas being in hospital and Meghan allegedly taking a dress from the set of her Netflix show.
Honestly, Harry, are you not tired?
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been causing controversy since at least 2020 when they left the UK, but after leaving for a "private life", they haven't done a very good job at trying to keep it out of the spotlight.
The new Channel 4 documentary will dig into the latest case surrounding Harry, but he's now risking something even bigger than media attention. Harry, alongside six other high-profile claimants, has been warned he faces significant financial risk in the £38million privacy lawsuit because if he loses the case he could be personally liable for millions in legal costs.
But something tells me that it won't stop him. Let's face it, Harry has never shied away from a fight, whether it's in the courtroom or with his family, and it could be his undoing. He's been so stubborn that he's now found himself in an ongoing court case, taking up his time, money and energy, and, honestly, probably a bit of his dignity at this point too. Do we not think his family are rolling their eyes every time they find out Harry is involved in another court case or issuing an angry statement? I would be. He seems to be so desperate to be the loudest voice in the room all the time, at least they know they're not the problem.
It has been unprecedented for a royal to take legal action so many times, but then again, it's unprecedented that a working royal would up and leave his life for an alleged quiet one in the US. Every time he issues a statement, he muddies his name further, and I think it seems unlikely that he could ever reconcile with his family with his name constantly in the press for all the wrong reasons. They surely know that not only would it now be damaging for their own reputation to reunite, but they will never know when he will next want to start a new battle.
This battle with the Mail is surely likely to cost him a load of money, alienate him even further from his family and if all that happens, then Hollywood won't want him either. Everyone can accept a little bit of scandal and drama, but nobody wants a constant stream of it, and that sadly is what Meghan and Harry are. Unless Harry is finally ready to put his anger to the side and accept a quiet life, he truly is putting everything good in his life on the line.
For me, this honestly feels like a pipe dream that I'm so ready to put to bed. I'd honestly welcome Harry and Meghan back into the UK with open arms, but until he learns not to be the victim, it is not going to happen.
