UP BJP Chief Election: The much anticipated state president election timetable has been finalized by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The state president election is scheduled for December 13 and 14, according to the party’s decision. On the first day, nominations will be submitted, and then they will be reviewed and any withdrawals made. The election will be conducted unanimously if just one nomination is submitted. Voting and counting will occur on the second day, December 14, if many candidates submit nominations. The National Council will also include members chosen by election.
Nominations for the state president election will be submitted at the BJP’s state headquarters on December 13 between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m., said Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, the BJP Uttar Pradesh Organization Election Officer and a former Union Minister, on Thursday. For this election, Vinod Tawde, the party’s Central Election Observer and National General Secretary, is also traveling to Lucknow. He is going to oversee the election of the state president. On December 14, Union Minister and Central electoral Officer Piyush Goyal will conclude the electoral process.
The party has summoned all of the state’s notable figures, including MPs, MLAs, and over 400 provincial council members, to Lucknow. The provincial council members cast ballots in the state presidential election. The next president is also eagerly anticipated by the workforce. It is anticipated that a candidate who can successfully coordinate between the organization and the government would be chosen in light of the 2027 assembly election preparations.
Proposers for the state president’s nomination may include Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, and important organizational figures. Additionally, it is being said that the national leadership has decided that this time, the selection of the state president will be based primarily on organizational strength, grassroots presence, and broad approval.
PM Modi and Bhupendra Chaudhary Meet
Current state president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary also met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday amid rumors about the selection of the next BJP state president. Chaudhary resigned from the central leadership after the BJP’s comparatively weak showing in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. His resignation was not accepted, nevertheless.
The BJP is probably going to wager on an OBC candidate.
The BJP may wager on an OBC candidate in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the Panchayat elections next year and the Assembly polls in 2027. Within the party, this is also seen as a challenge to the opposition’s PDA (Backwards, Dalit, Minority) model.
Who’s Competing?
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Livestock Minister Dharampal Singh, Water Power Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, State General Secretary Amar Pal Maurya, Union Minister BL Verma, MP Baburam Nishad, Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary, and Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti are the principal candidates for the position of state president. The names of Vinod Sonkar, Vidya Sagar Sonkar, and Jugal Kishore are also being explored among the Dalit hopefuls.
