WTC Points Table 2025-27:  At the Basin Reserve in Wellington on Friday, New Zealand won the second Test match against the West Indies by a margin of nine wickets. The Blackcaps chased down the 56-run goal and finished in four days, leading 1-0 in the three-match series when Kane Williamson hit the game-winning boundary.

In their run chase, the hosts only lost one wicket when Anderson Phillip removed Tom Latham (9). Williamson (16) and Devon Conway (28), who were still undefeated, forged a 31-run partnership for the second wicket. In addition to helping New Zealand earn 12 crucial World Test Championship points, the victory put the 2021 champions above of Pakistan and India and put them in third position with Sri Lanka.

They now have a 66.67 percent win-loss record, and the two teams ahead of them are South Africa (75 percent) and Australia (100 percent). Regarding the Wellington Test, on the third day, the West Indies were bowled out for 128 by New Zealand’s weaker attack, with Jacob Duffy taking 5/38. After falling behind by 73 runs in the first innings, the visitors were left with an overall advantage of only 55. This was Duffy’s second five-wicket haul of the series.

After being called up to make their test debuts in a side beset by injuries, pacer Michael Rae and wicketkeeper-batter Mitch Hay both made significant contributions. In response to the West Indies’ 205 in the first innings, New Zealand struck 278 thanks to Hay’s match-high 61. Rae had match statistics of 6-106 after taking 3-66 in the first and 3-45 in the second innings.

“I guess to lose (Tickner) like that . . . he bowled great in the first innings, and I thought the way the guys bowled today was awesome,” Duffy said. “We completed the task, and I felt it was a fantastic team effort. How is the third day going?

With five straight victories, Australia is still leading the WTC rankings. South Africa, who just defeated India 2-0 in a series played away from home, was next. So far, the 2023 champions have won three of their four games. India is now in sixth position, barely below bitter rivals Pakistan, after a string of dismal losses. The West Indies, Bangladesh, and England round out the points table in seventh, eighth, and seventh place, respectively.
