New Delhi: Superstar Rajinikanth turned 75 on December 12, and the milestone birthday turned into a grand celebration across India’s film industry and political circles. From New Delhi to Chennai and Kochi, leaders and stars shared loving messages, thanking him for five decades of cinema and a lifetime of inspiration.

Social media is filled with photos, memories and emotional notes, all saluting the man fans lovingly call “Thalaiva”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the wishes with a warm note for the legendary actor. He wrote, “Greetings to Thiru Rajinikanth Ji on the special occasion of his 75th birthday… This year has been notable because he completed 50 years in the world of films. Praying for his long and healthy life,” and also shared the message in Tamil.

Rajinikanth’s longtime friend and colleague Kamal Haasan celebrated both the man and his career. Posting a picture of the two together, Kamal wrote, “75 years of a remarkable life. 50 years of legendary cinema. Happy birthday, my friend @rajinikanth.”

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal thanked Rajinikanth for inspiring generations with his life and work. He wrote, “Warmest birthday wishes to dear Rajinikanth Sir… thank you for inspiring generations with your values, strength, and extraordinary spirit. May God bless you always with peace, good health, and boundless joy.”

Actor Simran praised him for changing commercial cinema, writing, “From redefining mass cinema to inspiring generations. Thank you, @rajinikanth sir, for everything. Wishing you a very Happy Birthday!”

Filmmaker-actor Raghava Lawrence shared a photo of himself hugging the superstar and wrote, “Happy Birthday Thalaiva @rajinikanth! I pray to Ragavendra Swamy for your good health. May you live a long life. Guruve Saranam.” Comedian Yogi Babu posted a picture from a film shoot and said, “Wish you a happy birthday, super star @rajinikanth sir.”

Director Lingusamy added his wishes, writing, “Wishing our superstar @rajinikanth sir a happy 75th birthday. Wish you a great health and keep inspiring us, sir, as always.”

The actor continues to stay busy on screen even at 75. He recently appeared in the 2024 film Vettaiyan, had an extended cameo in his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s Lal Salaam, starred in Coolie in 2025, and is now shooting for the sequel to Jailer 2 along with a new film produced by Kamal Haasan.
