UIDAI is continuously making efforts to prevent misuse of Aadhaar. One of these efforts is banning photocopies of Aadhaar. UIDAI has developed a new guideline, according to which no hotel, club, event organizer, or other such institution can ask for a photocopy of your Aadhaar, nor can they store it. The biggest question is whether anyone will be granted entry into hotels without a photocopy of your Aadhaar. How will people's identity be verified without a photocopy of their Aadhaar? UIDAI has also answered this question. According to UIDAI, under the new rules, identity verification will be done only through QR code scanning or UIDAI-approved digital authentication.

The purpose of the proposed rules is to prevent the submission of photocopies or scanned copies of your Aadhaar at places like hotels and event organizers. This is also a legal violation of the Aadhaar Act. Furthermore, there's a risk of your data being misused. UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar recently stated in an interview with news agency PTI that companies conducting Aadhaar-based verification will have to register with the system under a new framework. This new verification technology will reduce the risk of identity theft. Furthermore, the identity verification process will be even faster.

UIDAI's New Rules on Verification

Now, the answer to the question of how a person's identity will be verified without a photocopy is available. According to UIDAI, any hotel, club, or other private institution seeking Aadhaar verification will first have to register with UIDAI to become an offline verification-seeking entity. After this, they will only be able to verify identity through these UIDAI-approved methods.

The new Aadhaar app may also have a similar feature.
The new Aadhaar and e-Aadhaar cards contain a QR code containing your photo and basic details, along with a digital signature. Service providers will be able to scan this QR code and see only the necessary data, such as name, age, and photo for hotels and clubs. They will not be able to see your address.

UIDAI is also considering a new Aadhaar card model, which will feature only a photo and QR code on the front, with the remaining details removed. If this happens, Aadhaar will now be used solely as an authentication tool.
