UP Defense Industrial Corridor is progressing rapidly. More than 977 hectares of land has been allotted to 62 companies and investment of more than Rs 12000 crore is finalized. 197 MoUs have been signed. UP is becoming the center of defense production with big projects including BrahMos unit.
Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Defense Industrial Corridor (UPDIC), one of the ambitious projects of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is now coming on the ground rapidly. In this scheme, which was started with the aim of making the country self-reliant in defense and aerospace sector, till now more than 977.54 hectares of land has been allotted to 62 companies. The way has been paved for investment of Rs 11,997.45 crore and creation of 14,256 direct employment through these companies. Also, the process of signing MoUs with 110 companies is underway, which is expected to bring investment of about Rs 23,000 crore and more than 38,000 jobs.
Fast land acquisition in six nodes, 2,040 hectare work completed
UPEIDA has approved a total of more than 2,097 hectares of land in six nodes of the Defense Corridor—Aligarh, Kanpur, Lucknow, Jhansi, Chitrakoot and Agra. Of these, acquisition of 2,040 hectares of land has been completed. Currently 1,598.92 hectares of land is available for allotment.
- Aligarh: Land allotted to 24 companies
- Kanpur: Maximum 210 hectares of land given to 5 companies
- Jhansi: 571 hectares to 17 companies
- Lucknow: More than 131 hectares of land given to 16 companies
- Allotment will start soon in Chitrakoot, Aligarh Phase-2 and Agra also.
At this pace, Defense Corridor Industry of UP is becoming the first choice of investors.
197 MoUs completely signed, increase in investment and employment
Under the active monitoring of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a total of 197 MOUs have been signed so far in the corridor, which includes 172 industrial MOUs. There is a possibility of a proposed investment of Rs 34,844.49 crore and creation of about 52,658 jobs through these MOUs. In the next phase, the process of MoU with 110 more companies is going on, which is expected to bring investment of more than Rs 22,847 crore and add more than 38,000 jobs.
UP's big leap in defense production: Challenge to Gujarat and Tamil Nadu
UPEIDA's ACEO H.P. According to Shahi, the UP Defense Corridor is progressing rapidly as per the vision of the Chief Minister. Linking it to “One District, One Product” and “Make in India”, a strong defense manufacturing ecosystem is being developed.
The most important thing is that the manufacturing unit of BrahMos missile has been established in Lucknow node, which further strengthens the strategic capability of the state. Today UP is giving tough competition to major states like Gujarat and Tamil Nadu in the field of defense production. More big projects are likely to be added in the coming months, which will take the state's economy forward at a faster pace towards the goal of “Trillion Dollar Economy”.
