SMAT 2025: In Hyderabad’s decisive victory against Mumbai, Mohammed Siraj takes three wickets and receives the POTM award

SMAT 2025: On Friday, Mohammed Siraj played for Hyderabad against Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He had a fantastic performance in the inaugural Super League game, with statistics of 3/21. Before dismissing Mumbai skipper Shardul Thakur by LBW, he first removed Suryansh Shedge in the 17th over.

Shardul, who will play for MI in the 2026 Indian Premier League, was unable to score any runs.

Tanush Kotian was then taken out by Siraj on the third time. Kotian has only managed to score two runs off of five balls.

His skill as a bowler enabled the squad to dismiss Mumbai for only 131 runs. on addition to him, Tanay Thyagarajan and Chama Milind both claimed two wickets before Nitin Sai Yadav removed Yashasvi Jaiswal on the last delivery of the powerplay.

Jaiswal, who last represented India in this format in July of last year and had only managed 29 runs off 20 balls, was held to high standards by Mumbai. He had hammered six fours in his knock.

With just one wicket lost, Hyderabad pursued the goal of 132 runs in 11.5 overs. Aman Rao hit the game-winning fifty-two runs off of 29 balls after opener Tanmay had hammered seventy-five runs off forty balls.

Siraj was chosen to get the prize because of his outstanding achievement.

While playing for Andhra Pradesh, India’s top all-round player Nitish Kumar Reddy struck a hat-trick and made a stout 25 runs, but Madhya Pradesh prevailed by 4 wickets.

Reddy’s efforts were in vain as MP pursued the goal in 17.3 overs while Andhra were dismissed for 112 runs.

In the third over, he got rid of opener Harsh Gawali, No. 3 Harpreet Singh Bhatia, and No. 4 and captain Rajat Patidar.
