Railway Rules: When a train departs as soon as passengers reach the station, several questions arise. What happens to the ticket, and how to continue the journey? It's important to know the rules.

Indian Railways is called the lifeline of the country, and millions of passengers depend on it every day. Therefore, the railways formulate many rules keeping the convenience of passengers in mind. Missing a train is the most common but also the most frustrating situation.

If your train departs as soon as you reach the platform, it's naturally upsetting. Along with this, many questions arise. The first question that comes to mind after missing a train is about a refund. Immediately after that, the second big question is whether it's possible to travel on another train with the same ticket.

Many people make hasty and wrong decisions, which can later lead to fines or legal problems. If you also think that you can travel on another train with the ticket of the missed train, then let us tell you that this is not possible.

According to railway rules, if you want to travel on another train, you will have to buy a general coach ticket. Only then can you travel on another train. However, the train category is also important here. General tickets are not applicable on trains like Vande Bharat, Rajdhani, or Superfast trains.

Therefore, always check the train category before traveling. If you have a general ticket, you will only be able to travel on trains that have general coaches. If a passenger is caught traveling on another train, a fine may be imposed.

Therefore, catching another train with a reserved ticket after missing your train can be a risky decision. Instead, you can cancel your ticket and get a refund. For this, you have to file a TDR. You can fill out the TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt) by logging into the IRCTC app or website.

Go to the ticket options and select 'File TDR'. After filling in the reason, the TDR is submitted and the process is complete. After filing the TDR, the refund process begins. According to railway rules, the refund is sent directly to the account from which the ticket was booked. The refund is usually received within 60 days.
