TVS iQube Electric Scooter Battery Prices Rise Due to FAME-II Subsidy Adjustments:

The prices of batteries for TVS iQube electric two-wheelers have reportedly increased, a direct consequence of recent modifications to the FAME-II subsidy guidelines by the government. This change affects the overall cost of ownership for TVS iQube electric scooters, which are popular in the Indian market.

Previously, the government provided a 40% subsidy on the Ex-showroom price of electric two-wheelers, including the battery cost. However, under the updated FAME-II policy, the subsidy is now restricted to the Ex-factory price, effectively excluding the battery component from the full subsidy benefit. This alteration significantly impacts the final cost passed on to consumers.

For the TVS iQube series, the cost of the battery, which was once heavily subsidized, has now seen a substantial hike. The 3.4 kWh battery for the TVS iQube Electric Standard and TVS iQube S models is now estimated to be priced around ₹45,000 to ₹50,000. For the TVS iQube ST variant, which features a larger 5.1 kWh battery, the price is projected to be in the range of ₹60,000 to ₹65,000. These revised prices mean that while consumers still benefit from FAME-II, a larger portion of the battery cost must now be borne by them.

These developments come amidst reports that sales of electric two-wheelers have decreased in recent months following a broader reduction in government subsidies for electric vehicles. This situation presents a new challenge for manufacturers like TVS, who are keen to maintain their market presence in the burgeoning electric vehicle segment. Consumers considering TVS iQube models are advised to note these updated battery costs as they factor into the total purchase price.
