After this unpleasant incident, politics also became heated. Bharatiya Janata Party launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress government. Calling it shameful at the international level, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala said that such a large crowd was expected to come to the program of a world-class player like Messi, yet no concrete plan was made. He raised the question as to who would take responsibility in case of an accident.
