New information on Zubeen Garg’s death: SIT charges four accused with murder

Desk. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the mysterious death of singer Zubeen Garg has recently filed a charge sheet in a Guwahati court. In this charge sheet, four persons including Zubeen’s secretary Siddharth Sharma and festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahant have been accused of murder. Additionally, two members of Garg’s band Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amritprava Mahant are also included in the charge list.

Mysterious circumstances of death

Garg died while swimming in the sea during the North East India Festival in Singapore on September 19. This incident shook everyone and there is deep sorrow among his loved ones. Shyamkanu Mahant was organizing this festival. Garg’s cousin Sandipan Garg, a suspended Assam Police officer, has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the case.

Action against security officers also

Meanwhile, a case has also been registered against Garg’s two personal security officers Nandeshwar Bora and Prabin Baishya under Section 31C of BNS. The case pertains to misappropriation of funds or property entrusted to them, which amounts to criminal breach of trust.

SIT arrest and investigation progress

Under the guidance of Special DGP MP Gupta, the SIT has so far detained a total of seven people in this case. Along with this, statements have also been taken from more than 300 witnesses. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told reporters that the SIT has fulfilled the promise made to the people of Assam by filing the charge sheet.

“We had taken the responsibility of providing justice to Zubeen Garg and ensured that the chargesheet was presented in the court on time,” Sarma said. This matter is now in everyone’s attention and everyone is interested to see its further steps.
