Phu Quoc Island, voted the most beautiful in Asia by readers of American magazine Condé Nast Traveler, was named “world’s leading nature island destination” at this year’s World Travel Awards.
It surpassed other rivals such as Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica Isle of Skye in Scotland and Lofoten in Norway to claim the title.
The year 2025 has witnessed a boom in tourist arrivals in Phu Quoc.
The island welcomed nearly 7.6 million tourists including 1.6 million foreign arrivals in the first 11 months, up 35% year-on-year and surpassing this year’s target.
Phu Quoc had aimed to receive 7.25 million tourists this year, including 1.2 million from overseas.
October to May is the peak travel season on the island with sunny weather and clear blue sea.
Phu Quoc is the only Vietnamese destination that offers 30-day visa waiver for all international travelers.
The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, celebrate excellence in the travel and tourism industry and are referred to as the “Oscars of the travel industry.”
Winners are determined through votes cast by travel professionals and the public.
