Rio Ferdinand has urged Manchester United to sign Antoine Semenyo after he scored in Bournemouth's 4-4 draw at Old Trafford. Semenyo scored the first of the Cherries' goals on an unforgettable Monday night to continue his impressive campaign.
The Bournemouth forward made the most of a mistake by Luke Shaw to race through and find the bottom corner via the inside of the post in the 40th minute. His goal made it 1-1 after United had dominated the opening stages of the match.
Semenyo now has seven goals in the Premier League this season and has attracted a lot of transfer attention ahead of the January window opening in the New Year. Clubs including Liverpool and Manchester City are aware that the Ghana international has a release clause for £65million in his Bournemouth contract.
But former United defender Ferdinand wants Semenyo to end up at Old Trafford, instead of Anfield or the Etihad Stadium and made his feelings clear on social media.

United tweeted: "Goal. Antoine Semenyo levels for the visitors." Ferdinand replied: "Don’t let him leave after the game," along with a crying laughing emoji.
That was just one of his many observations while watching the mad-cap match from home. He was delighted with the first half, that saw United go into the break 2-1 up following goals from Amad Diallo and Casemiro.
He wrote: "Best 45 minutes under [Ruben] Amorim at Old Trafford… tempo, passing thru the lines, chances created. [Ayden] Heaven + [Lenny] Yoro looking assured. Lapse in focus for the goal, but reacted well!"
Ferdinand is likely to be disappointed on Semenyo, given United shelled out over £200m to sign Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in the summer transfer window. But Ghana head coach Otto Addo is sure that Semenyo will make the step up from Bournemouth soon.
“He has done very well at Bournemouth, but with all the respect for Bournemouth and what they’re doing, surely it is natural for him to take the next step," he told The Athletic.
“Whether it's in the winter or summer, it is a difference question but it won’t make a difference for us. I’m looking forward to him showing more of what he can to the world.”
