Instagram is testing a new and unique feature for its users that could change the way they watch Reels. This feature will allow users to scroll through Reels without touching the screen. As soon as one Reel ends, the next one will automatically start playing. This feature is beneficial for those who watch Reels for extended periods. However, there are concerns that it might further increase the habit of watching Reels.

The next step after making Reels unlimited
Instagram has already made Reels unlimited, meaning the content never ends as you keep scrolling. The algorithm shows public Reels to every user, regardless of whether they follow anyone or not. Some of these Reels are based on the user's preferences, while others are viral or random content. The Auto Scroll feature could potentially increase the time spent watching Reels even further.

What is the Auto Scroll feature and how does it work?
Instagram has been testing the Auto Scroll feature for the past few months. This option appears in the hamburger icon located in the bottom right corner of the Reels interface. After enabling Auto Scroll, as soon as a Reel finishes, the app automatically swipes to the next Reel. This eliminates the need to repeatedly swipe the screen.

Which users are getting this feature?
Currently, Instagram has not released the Auto Scroll feature to all users. This feature is still being tested on a limited number of accounts. The company has already provided an option to fast-forward Reels, where the speed can be increased by tapping on the right side of the screen. It is expected that this feature will be rolled out to more users after the testing is complete.
