Chinese cuisine is Asia’s second best: TasteAtlas

In Asia, Japanese cuisine was named the best, according to the ranking which was based on 590,228 valid ratings for 18,912 foods in TasteAtlas’s database.

TasteAtlas recommended diners to try must-have dishes in China such as Zhēngjiǎo (traditional dumplings), Lanzhou lamian (Lanzhou beef noodles), Yúxiāng, a seasoning mixture in Chinese cuisine which also refers to the resulting sauce in which meat or vegetables are cooked, Siu mei (traditional meat dish) and hotpot.

Some must-try restaurants include Wang Fu in Hong Kong, Huxi Lao Longtang Mianguan in Shanghai, Green Tea Restaurant in Hangzhou and Lailai Snack Dumpling in Shanghai.

Chinese cuisine is famous globally for its incredible diversity, deep history, distinct regional styles and iconic dishes such as Peking duck, dim sum, and Kung Pao chicken, offering rich flavors, varied ingredients, and unique dining experiences centered on balance, freshness, and communal enjoyment, influencing food worldwide.

Founded in 2015, TasteAtlas links 9,000 local restaurants and showcases tens of thousands of dishes based on reviews and research by culinary experts, chefs, and users.

The site serves as a global map of traditional dishes made from local ingredients and aims to celebrate great food, foster pride in culinary traditions, and spark curiosity about dishes unfamiliar to many tourists.

Italian cuisine was named the world’s best this year, followed by cuisine of Greece, Peru, Portugal and Spain.
