The event was made public after a video of the woman’s husband chatting to the camera while clutching a file including family photos and papers appeared on X.

Earlier this year, a case like this had been reported online. Sapna Devi, a lady from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, had eloped with her prospective son-in-law rather than a stranger. On April 16, her daughter Shivani was set to wed Rahul. Preparations were under progress, and wedding invitations had already been produced. Sapna Devi reportedly stole jewelry and money from her house on April 8, only a few days before the wedding. Rahul vanished at around the same time.

When Jitendra Kumar, the woman’s husband, reported her missing, the issue was brought to light. According to Aligarh police, the couple had received counseling for over twelve hours before they returned. The lady was forced to talk to her husband and family by officials, but she was adamant about staying with Rahul. Eventually, the cops let them go together since they were both adults.
