Uttar Pradesh:  Shamli In Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, a man murdered his wife and two kids and buried their remains in a seven-foot-deep trench, authorities said Wednesday.

The defendant, Farooq, who lives in Garhi village near the Kandhla Police Station, is now being held by the police.

The names of the dead are Sehreem (7 years old), Afreen (14 years old), and Tahira (32 years old). According to authorities, Farooq and Tahira have three other children.

Because his wife had left her in-laws’ home and gone to her parents’ home without wearing a burqa, the authorities claim he committed this horrible crime. For many months, Farooq and Tahira were also at odds and regularly fought.

Living in different homes, Farooq and his parents, Dawood and Asgari, had not spoken to each other in many months. Tahira, Afreen, and Sehreem have not been home for the last six days.

Farooq claimed to have kept his wife and kids in a rented home in Shamli when Dawood questioned him about them. On Tuesday night, he reported the situation to the police after not getting a sufficient response.

Farooq admitted to the crime when he was questioned about it. He said that when his wife failed to wear a burqa while visiting her parents, he became enraged and murdered her. He said that he murdered his daughters as well since they woke up and saw him performing the deed.

Speaking to reporters, Superintendent of Police (SP) N.P. Singh said, “As soon as we learned that a mom and her two girls were missing, our team came. Farooq confessed to the crime after our rigorous interrogation of him. He admitted to us that he was having financial difficulties. He said that they got into a fight because his wife had requested for some money. She then proceeded to her parents’ house without donning a burqa.

“He believed that society no longer respected him as a result of this. He became enraged when his wife returned because he thought she had no interest in him, and he took the decision to murder her,” Singh said.

The accused woke up his wife for a cup of tea on the evening of December 9–10, the SP said. His wife came out to make him a cup of tea while the kids were asleep. Farooq shot his wife after bringing a gun.

Officials claim that he strangled one of his daughters while shooting his wife and older daughter.

He said that he had dug out a seven-foot-deep hole in his home’s courtyard specifically for the purpose of burying his wife and kids, and that he had covered it with a brick floor.

After conducting an excavation, police retrieved the remains and submitted them for a post-mortem examination.
