Priya Kapur opposes forensic examination of late husband Sunjay's will

The inheritance dispute over the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur's estate has taken a dramatic turn.

His third wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur, has objected to a forensic examination of the will, which grants her a claim to his personal assets and control of the Sona Comstar Group.

The request for this examination was made by Kapur's children from his marriage to Karisma Kapoor, Samaira, and Kiaan Raj Kapur.

Bollywood Hungama reported that legal experts have said, Sachdev Kapur's opposition is unusual in a probate dispute of this size, as courts usually depend on forensic tests to resolve doubts over testamentary documents.

They warned that blocking this process could raise more suspicions about a will that completely excludes Kapur's biological children.

The Delhi High Court will hear the forensic inspection plea and Shradha Suri Marwah's amendment application on January 20, 2026.

Marwah's changing narrative raises eyebrows
Executor's inconsistency

Marwah, the will's purported executor, has changed her story about how she first received the document.

Initially saying Sachdev Kapur handed it over on June 24, she later claimed it came from Dinesh Agarwal on June 14.

However, after reviewing Sachdev Kapur's submissions, she reverted to her original version.

These inconsistencies have raised suspicions, especially since Marwah admitted she didn't know about being named executor or having independent legal advice.

Senior counsel Mahesh Jethmalani, representing Samaira and Kiaan, argued that Indian law does not allow an executor to be appointed without prior consent.

He added that if the will does not pass judicial scrutiny, Kapur's estate would be divided equally among all Class I heirs.

This point was conceded by Marwah's counsel as well.

The disputed will is dated March 21, 2025, and allegedly leaves Kapur's entire personal estate to Sachdev Kapur and their minor son Azarias.
